Sandstone pavers perth

Natural Sandstone Paving

What makes our range of sandstone pavers genuinely interesting is how different the stones within it are from one another. Some carry neutral, consistent tones with minimal variation from piece to piece. Others have dramatic shifts in colour, veining, and character across every slab. Both have their place, and the right choice comes down entirely to the look you are after and the character you want your outdoor space to have.

Our sandstone paving range sits at the harder end of the natural stone spectrum. Several products in the range, including Glenmoor, Fellstyle, and Sandstone Mint, are quartzitic sandstones. This means the quartz grains are so thoroughly cemented together that the stone behaves more like a dense, crystalline material than a standard sedimentary rock. In practical terms, this gives them stronger resistance to surface abrasion and better long-term performance underfoot compared to softer sandstone varieties.

Natural sandstone has been used in outdoor paving for centuries, and it is not hard to see why. It is a stone that forms over millions of years through the compression of sand-sized mineral particles. The result is a material with genuine depth, character, and a surface texture that carries the mark of geological time in every piece.

Fellstyle

A quartzitic sandstone at the neutral end of the range. Consistent grey tones with minimal colour variation from piece to piece. The look is clean, modern, and controlled. If you want a natural stone that sits quietly in the background while the rest of the space does the talking, Fellstyle delivers that.

Sandstone Mint

A quartzitic sandstone with striking natural variation. Warm sandy tones, green-grey undertones, russet veining, and flashes of cream run through each slab. No two pieces read the same. In a mixed-format layout across a large outdoor area, the result is genuinely bold.

Vintage Raven

One of our most popular sandstones. Vintage Raven carries more neutral tones than limestone but with the same rolling texture that gives natural stone its character. It has a worn, weathered quality to the surface: understated, but with real depth. Part of the Vintage Stone range, which also includes matching stone setts, stone walling, and a compass feature.

Vintage Manor

A warm-toned textured sandstone with a broad colour palette. Amber, honey, rust, and tan run through the surface, producing a rich, earthy result. The texture is pronounced and the colour range is wide, giving each installation its own character. Part of the Vintage Stone range.

Glenmoor

A durable, gently riven quartzitic sandstone in varying shades of buff, with occasional darker brown markings. The tone is warm but restrained, sitting naturally alongside a wide range of materials without competing for attention. Widely used and consistently popular.

What Sandstone Brings to Your Property

Natural sandstone brings something to an outdoor space that is difficult to replicate: a surface formed over geological time, carrying genuine character in every piece.

The surface texture of natural sandstone gives it grip underfoot. The natural split face finish on our quartzitic sandstones provides traction without needing to be machined or treated, making it a practical choice for outdoor surfaces including wet areas.

Sandstone ages well. The colours are part of the stone itself, formed over geological time, and the surface tends to deepen and settle into its surroundings as the years go by. It is a material that was here long before it was quarried and shaped, and that quality comes through in the finished result.

The range of character across our sandstone products means there is no single look this stone has to produce. Neutral and consistent stones like Fellstyle and Glenmoor work well in spaces where you want the paving to complement rather than dominate. High-variation stones like Sandstone Mint and Vintage Manor make a statement. They are the kind of stone that draws attention and becomes a feature of the outdoor space in its own right. Vintage Raven sits comfortably between the two, with enough character to read as natural stone without the bold variation of the more dramatic products in the range.

All of our sandstones are slip resistant and responsibly sourced.

Choosing The Right Sandstone Pavers

The difference between our sandstone products comes down to two things: the amount of colour and tonal variation in the stone, and the character of the surface texture.

If you are drawn to a controlled, consistent result where the individual pieces read similarly to one another, Fellstyle and Glenmoor are worth looking at. Fellstyle is the more neutral of the two: cool grey tones, very consistent. Glenmoor is warmer in tone but similarly restrained in terms of variation.

If you want depth and drama, a stone that produces a different result every time because each piece carries its own mix of colours, Sandstone Mint and Vintage Manor are worth considering. These are stones where the variation is the point.

Vintage Raven occupies the middle ground: natural texture and character without the high-contrast colour shifts of the more striking products in the range.

If you are unsure which product suits your project, come into our Subiaco showroom. Seeing full slabs in person and placing them against samples of your fencing, cladding, or other materials tells you far more than any photograph can.

Sandstone and Limestone – Which Is Right for You?

Sandstone and limestone are both natural stone options that suit outdoor paving well, and we stock a strong range of both. They are different stones with different characters. Sandstone is a silica-based sedimentary rock, while limestone is calcium carbonate based, which gives each stone distinct properties in terms of tone, texture, and long-term performance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

Standard sandstone is a sedimentary rock where sand-sized grains are loosely cemented together. Quartzitic sandstone has a much higher quartz content and denser cementation. The grains are bound so tightly the stone behaves more like a metamorphic rock. In practical terms this means it is harder wearing, more resistant to surface abrasion, and better suited to high-traffic outdoor paving than softer sandstone varieties. Several products in our range, including Glenmoor, Fellstyle, and Sandstone Mint, are quartzitic sandstones.

Yes. Natural sandstone is porous, and sealing on installation protects the surface, helps resist staining, and enhances the colour depth of the stone. We recommend a quality sealer applied to clean, dry stone. Resealing every few years depending on traffic and exposure is good practice.

Yes. The natural split face finish on our sandstone products provides grip underfoot when wet, and all products in our range carry a slip resistant rating. Sealing is recommended for paved pool areas to reduce water and chemical absorption. Rinse regularly to remove chlorine residue.

Well. Sandstone is a heat-resistant natural material that has been used in outdoor paving in hot climates for centuries. The colour in natural stone is part of the stone itself, so it does not fade or bleach under UV exposure. Sealing helps maintain the surface long term.

Sizes vary by product. Most of our sandstone range is available in multiple formats including large rectangular slabs and project packs containing mixed sizes for various patterns.
