Design Tip – Make Your Pool Coping a Feature
Pool coping doesn’t always need to be the same material as the surrounding paving. Using a complementary combination can add depth and refinement to your design.
For example, a recent installation included natural travertine coping with Travertine Silver porcelain surrounds. The natural travertine was honed for a smoother finish and carried a slightly darker tone than the paler porcelain, creating a subtle yet striking contrast. The result was a high-end, elegant finish that lifted the entire pool area.
Other approaches include using two different natural stone finishes, two porcelain finishes, or adjusting the paving pattern to define the coping from the surrounds. We’ve even used crazy paving as coping for a contemporary twist.
